What else? Updates!

Yet another chapter of Infamous: Resurgence (the fourth, for anyone counting), is up on FF.net. Also, by using some sort of black magic, I actually have the fifth chapter done and ready to go. There's a preview after the break, if you're into that sort of thing.

OLL Contest Piece!

There's a contest on the Offices of Letters and Light page. I don't really care to win, but I figured I should write as much as possible. Read it if you care to.

Sunny. It had to be sunny out. Mike cursed silently. Of all the days that he had to die, whatever powers that be decided it would be this one. A beautiful, cloudless day. Mike sighed and shifted his focus from the face of his killer to the tool. He was quite literally staring down the barrel of a nine millimeter pistol. It seemed endless, disappearing into a dark abyss where only death and crushed dreams reside.

"We told you plenty of times, Lamonte. If you don't have the money, we don't have time for you." The man, who actually couldn't be more than a boy, was light-skinned and had a mask pulled over his face. He waved his weapon about carelessly, as though it were weightless in his hand.

"Look, I told you guys that I could have the money by next week." The brick on Mike's back was cold, unyielding. Suddenly the gunman was tired of waving his gun. He straightened it directly at Mike's head. Although his killer's mouth was obscured, Mike could sense the smirk. The wry smile. He knew what came next.

"Sorry, Chief, but the boss said now or never." The man looked at the pistol, like he was praising it for another job well done. "Orders are orders, friend."

As the flash of power and the thunder of a gunshot erupted in Mike's face, his thoughts jumped to his family. His daughters, playing outside without a second thought to what might be happening beyond the wooden fence that stood guard around the backyard. His wife, with her beautiful smile and charming laugh. He imagined them enjoying themselves, enjoying their lives.

On this terrible, twisted, beautiful day.
